Is The Nintendo Wii Really for everybody?

Thanks to Kokirikids member Teeler for the following post:-

Nintendo said that the Wii would be for all age groups. Did they really mean it though?

I love the Wii and everything about it, but all of the games I play would probably never be played by most grandparents. I mean, do you think your grandfather or grandmother would really play Twilight Princess or Excite Truck? I know mine wouldn’t.

On the flip side though, all of the downloadable games could give an interest to elder people. They can play games that they used to love like Sim City and other fun games.

Even thought elder people could download the old games, then why shell out the money to buy the system and the games, when you could probably just buy the older system?

What about younger kids? Younger kids can now get those little computer games, but probably want more. Nintendo usually doesn’t make games that are for extremely young kids.

The good part about not making games for those young kids is that they most likely have to play the games played like older kids like TP. This would result in them getting used to more complex games when they get older, which means gaming companies can make harder games.

As you have reads through out this thread, it is hard to figure out if Nintendo really did mean that, or they just wanted more people to buy. This all depends on what you think really happened.

Super Mario Galaxy Review - Game of the decade?

super mario galaxy

In gaming there moments that make it all worth while.

In Mario Galaxy you get that feeling from the start… This truely could be game of the Decade!

Now the Mario series has always been able to define gaming since Mario Bros. and this game is probably the best Mario game so far.

Now this is Mario first proper platforming adventure on the Nintendo Wii and the plan here is to provide some more of these defining moments and this game is aiming to revolutionise the platforming Genre all over again!!
Now I myself think it has managed to do that.

Now some people think that the Nintendo Wii is just a montion sensing Gamecube but when you play Mario Galaxy you realise just how powerful the Wii is.

Here this screenshot does not do justice for the games graphics, you have to play the game to realise how great the graphics really are.

Another thing about this game which I love is the water feature which makes you just want to stare at the water in this game for ages.
Then there are moments when you just wanna look at the stunning views as you walk around that different planets.

We can safely say the dream of Wii having powerful graphics have come true!!

But it is not all about the graphics for this game has the best gameplay around!

Now you probably think since Nintendo have worked so hard on the Graphics and the gameplay that they have probably forgotten the good music… wrong!!
The music that you hear on this game will give your ears a real treat!!
The music in the game really does go down nicely with the levels in the games.

Now do not worry you retro lovers!!

For there is something here for you.

You will see the return of Question blocks, good old fire mario, mushrooms and a level in the game has the same music as Super Mario Bros. 3!!

The controls in this game are flawless it truely does have the best controls on Wii!
Moving around your new Galaxy enviroment is so easy and having the perfect controls really does make getting those Stars really easy to get!!

As for the difficulty Super Mario Galaxy is variable. The original demos appeared a bit easy but fears that it would be a easy game can be put to rest. While some missions are quite simple, others will test the skills of even the most dedicated Mario veteran (the aforementioned Cookie Factory Galaxy has a nice stage where you have to make your way along moving platforms riddled with holes by carefully jumping forward, avoiding the holes and being sure not to hit any laser beams in the process). We’d say it was slightly trickier than Super Mario 64 but not as frustrating as some of Super Mario Sunshine’s later levels were. It’s challenging but always entertaining. In other words and it’ll take you a while to get all 120 stars.

Now the difficulty in Mario Galaxy can be different at times.
Now some of the missions on the game are very easy and there are times that you need a whole heep of skill to beat certain levels and bosses!

Now that game can be a little bit harder than Super Mario 64 but it is not nearly as frustrating as Mario 64.

Now you may think is it better than Mario 64 and Mario sunshine well I say yes this is the best Mario game since Super Mario World for the SNES!

Chaos Verdict for this game:

Good Points= +
Bad Points= -

_

Flawless Controls +
The best graphics on Wii +
Great Gameplay +
Fantastic sound +
The best Mario game since Super Mario World +

_

I would have to rate this game:

96%

So it is only fair I award it the Golden Chaos Award since it got over 90%.

Fifa 2008 Review

OK can this compare to that of Mario Strikers charged?

Well it comes close!

I had my doubts about this seeing as most Fifa games *cough* Fifa street* *cough* are rubbish but well this is a good game!

The handling of the ball in this game is very good and it is so simple and after all how can it not be simple when all you have to do to pass the ball is press A and maybe move the analog stick a bit?

It also has the abilitie to pass to cartain players by using the D-Pad on you Wii remote and to shoot the ball all you have to do is flick the Wii remote!!

The speed on how fast the ball goes depends on how much power your player hits the bal with.

The Nunchuk control is awesome in this game and I think it genius in the control system for this game.

Tilting the Nunchuk to the side when shooting the ball or taking set pieces puts a good deal of swerve on the ball.

Another thing about this game is that you really feel do feel complete when taking control of your shots, something that you have never really gotten out of Fifa games before now.

A fantastic feeling you get out of this is the fact that when you take a free kick and it lands in the top corner of the net just makes this game worthwile.

Though Shooting set piece work well enough but the passing can feel loose at times and the goal keepers make silly mistakes and the crossing can be iffy.

But still this game is better than any Fifa game I have ever played and even if you did get fifa street on the gamecube and are considering not getting this let me tell you it is a lot better than fifa street. :)

So if you are looking for a game that is more serious than Mario strikers charged Fifa 08 is a great choice!

So overall I would have to give this game 80%

Interview with the current Zelda creator

I read a great interview with Eiji Aonuma, the current man behind Zelda.

It used to be that when one spoke of the creative force behind Zelda only one name would come up: Shigeru Miyamoto. Which made sense — Miyamoto was, after all, the series creator and the man who oversaw every installment since its inception. But in recent years, as Miyamoto’s position within Nintendo rose and his responsibilities increased, a new face of Zelda was introduced: Eiji Aonuma. Having been at Nintendo since 1998, Aonuma worked under Miyamoto for quite some time, and with Zelda: Ocarina of Time he was given his first job helping direct a Zelda game. Since Ocarina, Aonuma has been the director of the entire Zelda franchise, including Majora’s Mask, The Wind Waker, and The Twilight Princess. With his latest Zelda, The Phantom Hourglass, now in stores and getting rave reviews, we took some time to sit down with Aonuma to talk about his life and the series he so loves.
